Columbus, Ohio hosts the 2024 ASPE Convention & Expo
By: Kaley Rowland, EIT
I’m thrilled to be part of my first ASPE convention & expo and to engage more with the ASPE community. I’m particularly keen to learn more about plumbing design and equipment. I’ve reached out to a few ASPE members for advice on navigating the convention, and their tips have been invaluable. The consensus seems to be ‘to do as much as you can,’ which I interpret as making connections and attending the technical sessions.
I am most excited to attend the technical sessions of the conference so I can learn more about system design and fire protection systems. I have already begun planning which technical sessions I want to attend, including sessions on proper sizing of plumbing equipment, material selection, and code updates. I hope to gain a lot of practical knowledge that I can use in my daily work.
I also have the privilege of attending the Women of ASPE (WOA) Leadership Forum and the ASPE Young Professionals section of the convention. These two sessions are where I expect to meet the most contacts and hopefully make many connections. I have already had a WOA Committee Member reach out and welcome me, so I am eager to meet with her in person at the convention.
I’m truly grateful for the chance to expand my knowledge and continue my education in plumbing design. This opportunity to attend the ASPE convention is a significant step in my professional development, and I’m eager to make the most of it.
I encourage you to learn more about the 2024 convention & expo by visiting expo.aspe.org.
